Top Hats

Top Hats have always been fascinating for me. They look so stupid, and have no practical purpose. Despite these facts, they are recognised with status. I find the pairing of status with absurdity to be quite interesting. For a period of time, I went around wearing a top hat and I think I was generally regarded as a weirdo, and denied the status accorded to the wealthy. That was interesting for me.

In the Top Hat series, I explored all the symbolic meanings the Top Hats could have in various social contexts. The series draws heavily on psychological symbolism to apply colour and shape associations.
